Saturday marked a special day for both the Worthing Striders and the wider local community of runners. The Striders had the honour of taking over the volunteer roles at the popular Worthing parkrun event, and what a splendid morning it was!
Running Together, Volunteering Together
Worthing Striders has always had a strong ethos of community engagement. From supporting local charity events to hosting our own running programmes, we’ve been an active part of the Worthing community for years. This time, we decided to give back by stepping into the volunteer roles at the Worthing parkrun — and it was an absolute joy.
The atmosphere was electric as over 580 runners gathered at the start line. Our volunteers ensured a warm and supportive environment, cheering on everyone from first-timers to seasoned parkrunners. The runners seemed to truly appreciate the encouragement, many saying that it made their 5km run that much more enjoyable.
A Big Thank You
We extend our deepest gratitude to the organisers of the Worthing parkrun for allowing us the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful community event. Our members found the experience extremely rewarding, and we hope to take over volunteering roles in future parkruns as well.
We’d also like to thank all the runners who participated — your energy and enthusiasm were truly infectious. And last but certainly not least, a massive shout-out to our own Worthing Striders volunteers who made this all possible.
If you’d like to join the Worthing Striders or are interested in our future community involvement, please do get in touch. Let’s keep running, Worthing!
