What a Weekend & What a Season!

It’s been another fantastic weekend for Worthing Striders, rounding off an incredible season of running.

On Saturday, many members took part in their usual local park runs, while others enjoyed something a bit different — heading out around Ferring for the Scarecrow Trail, mixing some running and walking with plenty of smiles along the way. Meanwhile, Carolyn completed an impressive 26.2 miles in Hampshire at the Phoenix Running – Alice in the Runderland, taking on a marathon distance with determination and style — an amazing individual effort!

Then came Sunday, where the magic really happened. An amazing 46 Striders, plus several more supporters, turned out in Horsham for the Gunpowder Trot. It was a brilliant atmosphere and a great way to close out the West Sussex Fun Run League.

And what a finish it’s been — Worthing Striders have secured 7th place overall in the league, our best-ever position, beating the previous record of 8th back in 2009!

Across the season, we’ve had 447 participants and scored a total of 1,711 points — that’s 281 more than last year, a huge testament to everyone’s commitment and consistency. We also achieved a 32.3% improvement in participation and narrowly missed out on top spot in the Points Improvers standings by just 22 points — proof of how competitive and dedicated our club has been all season.

A huge congratulations to everyone who ran, volunteered, supported, and represented the club throughout the year. Every effort counted and helped make this our strongest season yet.

And a special mention to Hannah Wise, who completed every single race in the league this year.

Let’s carry this momentum into the winter and make 2026 even better!
