It was another busy Weekend for Worthing Striders, starting on Saturday with parkrun action across a number of locations. Striders were represented at Worthing, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis, while Sally travelled to Basingstoke parkrun. It was great to see familiar faces out locally as well as some Striders taking the opportunity to run elsewhere.
Away from parkrun, the weekend also saw some significant ultra-distance efforts. On Friday, Tom took on the Arc of Attrition 100-mile race, continuing through very challenging weather and tough coastal terrain for over 31 hours. Conditions across the course were extremely difficult, with many runners unable to complete the race, making Tom’s finish a huge achievement. On Saturday, Dan W. ran the Arc of Attrition 50-mile race, facing the same testing conditions and completing the course in over 13 hours. Finishing either event was a notable achievement given the weather and terrain.
On Sunday, Patricia and Dan B. travelled to Spain for the Seville Half Marathon. Dan B. paced Patricia throughout the race, helping her to a fantastic result, with personal bests recorded across all distances.
Overall, it was a Weekend that reflected the range of running across the club, from local parkruns to international races and ultra events in some very tough conditions. Well done to everyone involved.
