Saturday brought another spread of Striders across multiple Parkrun locations, all facing the familiar challenge of strong wind and persistent rain. Despite the conditions, there was a great effort from everyone who laced up.
Emily travelled to Maesteg parkrun in Wales, taking on a wet and hilly course that demanded a solid effort from start to finish.
Sally headed to the well-known Severn Bridge parkrun, running the out-and-back route across the crossing in blustery weather — never an easy task on such an exposed course.
Further north, Anita and Michelle M. took on Edenbrook Country parkrun, a scenic two-lap course that was muddy in places and definitely feeling the effects of Saturday morning’s weather.
Meanwhile Carolyne and Jason visited Bognor Regis Parkrun, where the twisty loops and wet paths added an extra challenge in the morning’s rain.
Closer to home, the majority of Striders stayed local with strong attendance at Littlehampton and Worthing Parkruns. Conditions on the coast were particularly rough, but that didn’t stop runners from turning out in good numbers.
Worthing also gave us a fun moment as the first dog home crossed the line running alongside Michelle G., adding a bit of cheer to an otherwise grey and windy morning.
Sunday didn’t feature many official races, but plenty of Striders headed out for their own training. Some tackled the hills around Cissbury Ring, others opted for the flat seafront, and a few went long to build mileage for upcoming goals. A good mix of routes and efforts across the club.
The weekend wrapped up with a relaxed Striders meet-up at The Perch on Worthing Pier for a well-deserved Sunday roast and a catch-up after a weather-beaten weekend of running.
