The Great Walstead 5, an off-road mixed terrain course, approximately 5 miles (8km), awaited the Worthing Striders this morning. Nestled in the woodlands behind the Great Walstead School, this two-lap course, part of the West Sussex Fun Run League, hosted by the Haywards Heath Harriers, presented an adventurous and hilly route.
As the Striders embarked on this course, the initial stretch proved to be a warm-up for the inclines that lay ahead. The mixed terrain was a test of agility and endurance, the muddy paths contrasting with the more solid trails that wound through fields and woodland.
Completing the laps, every member, whether a seasoned runner or a newcomer, shared in the accomplishment of having tackled the Great Walstead 5 as a team.
